What’s really going on with voting in Ohio?

Much has been reported on 2022 redistricting in Ohio, new Ohio voting laws and a new proposed Ohio constitutional amendment. But it can be difficult to find real facts and understand what is really happening. And, importantly, it can be hard to see how different actions taken by politicians are connected and designed to weaken the power of Ohio voters, increase the power of politicians and make elected politicians less accountable to voters.

So Ohio voters are informed, videos on this site provide detailed information on: the Ohio Constitution; district voting maps; the new voting law to elect Ohio judges; Ohio’s new 2023 voting law; and, the proposed Ohio constitutional amendment Ohio voters will vote on in August 2023. Watching the video What Really Happened During Ohio 2022 Redistricting at the bottom of the website is a good place to start. When looked at together, the details and facts show that, in Ohio:

  • Elections are fixed through gerrymandering to ensure a veto proof super-majority and one-party rule in the Ohio legislature before an election ever happens. VIDEO
  • Top politicians repeatedly and intentionally ignore 71% of Ohio voters who voted for fair districts in a landslide. VIDEO
  • Top politicians repeatedly and intentionally defy the Ohio Supreme Court and the Ohio Constitution they swore an oath to. VIDEO
  • Ohio courts are politicized so judges can be pressured to follow the party line instead of being fair and impartial. VIDEO
  • The new 2023 voting law reduces the number of opposition party voters to help ensure a one-party rule. VIDEO
  • Politicians approved an Ohio constitutional amendment that makes it harder for the Ohio majority to change the Ohio constitution. Republican politicians never would have had the 60% of house and senate votes needed to put this constitutional amendment on the ballot without the super-majority they achieved through fixed elections and gerrymandering. Also, the Ohio Ballot Board, controlled by republican politicians, has approved the summary information voters see in the voting booth will hide from voters they are being asked to approve an increase from the current 50% majority to a 60% vote needed. VIDEO

Whether we are Republican, Democrat or Independent, the vast majority of us would agree this is not what we want for ourselves or our children. One has to ask if we really have fair and free elections in Ohio.

The above list leads to a few overall conclusions.

Gerrymandering is not just about Gerrmandering. It is also about what politicians do – including, ignoring voters, and defying Ohio’s Constitution and Supreme Court – to hold onto political power when they are not accountable to voters and their re-election has been virtually assured for more than a decade because of gerrymandered voting districts.

2022 gerrymandering, the new Ohio 2023 voting law and the proposed Ohio constitutional amendment to make it harder for Ohio’s majority to make changes to the Ohio Constitution when needed are all designed to weaken Ohioans’ voting power, ensure a one-party rule and make politicians less accountable to Ohio voters.

Ohio voters can start to take back their voting power by 1) voting in July and August 2023 to keep the majority’s power to amend the Ohio constitution and not raise it to 60%. Early and absentee voting begins July 11, 2023 and, 2) establishing a new redistricting commission made up of everyday citizens, instead of politicians, to draw fair districts.

By definition 60% would be a majority! You are promoting mistrust, half-truths and outright lies! Progressive liberals are simply socialist communist which appears to be exactly who you all are…

The fact stated was that if a majority of 50%-59% was for and a minority of 41%-49% was against a matter, the minority would win – which is not a lie or a half-truth. Unfortunately, anger and name calling are a part of too many conversations these days, but aren’t helpful in the end. We are so much more alike than we are different, despite what we see from different media.

The fact is if 51% wins everytime then the minority of 49% always loses and half of the voices in Ohio would be silenced. If 60% of our representatives can agree then both sides win which is how democracy is supposed to work. The minority has a say as well! This page is so blatantly partisan it should be advertised as democrat propaganda at the very top of the page. Sore losers always whine when the rules are made fair for both sides.

51% is also a majority and was fine until the GOP got scared people would actually vote against their wishes. LOL ….maths

I’m confused???
